2018 Toyota Camry

Toyota USA is getting ready to launch the 2018 Toyota Camry later this summer at dealerships nationwide. The market is already heating up for the all-new, eighth-generation release with Toyota fueling anticipation. This is the latest entry of America’s best-selling passenger car for the last 15 years so it’s no surprise the industry is interested.

Using Toyota’s TNGA modular platform, the new Camry features a 30% stiffer structure. This gives the suspension a better base to deliver a smoother, more responsive ride. Toyota has also moved the wheelbase to make it 1.9 inches longer which adds to the interior space of the cabin.

Engine options will include the new 2.5-litre Dynamic Force four-cylinder model, delivering up to 206hp and 186lb-ft of torque thanks to dual VVT-i with VVT-iE and direct injection. This engine configuration will also be seen on the Hybrid version with total output rated at 176hp and 163lb-ft of torque.

For drivers seeking a more aggressive performance from their Camry, Toyota will offer a 3.5-liter V6 which delivers 301hp and 267lb-ft of torque.

Both engines utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission while the hybrid continues with CVT.

According to Toyota, the Hybrid Camry delivers unmatched fuel efficiency with 51 city/ 53 highway/52 combined EPA-estimated MPG. Toyota has reduced the weight and size of Power Control Unit as well as revised the DC-DC converter and added Auto Glide Control feature to reduce engine braking – all welcome changes to those seeking a faster, more efficient means of transportation.

Toyota is highlighting road safety along with other manufactures like Nissan and Honda with more driver assistance systems, including Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert and more.
