2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Specifications
After a few years of minor tweaks to the 2014 redesign, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado is expected to be another carryover year with a full redesign not anticipated until 2019 model year.
In 2016, we say the frontend restylized and new new grille shutters brought out in 2017 so we are expecting the 2018 Silverado’s look to remain unchanged with the current market suggesting relative happiness with the current look of both exterior and interior.
We’re also not expecting any significant changes with standard features – if this holds – then the base model WT will bring owners 17-inch steel wheels, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, a bed light, air conditioning, cruise, vinyl seating, rugged rubber flooring, and a 4.2-inch color screen audio system.
The 2018 Silverado 1500’s expected base engine will be a 4.3-liter V6 with 285 HP. Buyers can step up to a 5.3-liter V-8 with 355 horses or a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 hp with a six-speed automatic transmission for both the 4.3 and 5.3 liter engines and an eight-speed automatic transmission for the 6.2-liter.
IIHS safety ratings vary among the different cab configurations available with the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. Last year, they all received “Good” ratings in every category except the small-overlap crash tests, where the extended cab received only “Acceptable” and the crew cab got a “Marginal” rating. We are not expecting much to change this year.
There aren’t many optional safety features to discuss, but there are a few: rearview camera, lane departure warning and intervention, as well as forward collision warning with low-speed emergency braking.
2018 Chevrolet Silverado Pricing & Release Date
No official release date has been provided, but based on production estimates the on-sale date should arrive sometime in August.
Pricewise, we’re expecting Regular Cabs to start at $29,380 and the Double Cab to be priced starting at $33,405. Expect Crew Cabs to run $37,830 – $56,370 for the High Country 4×4 before any optional equipment.
