On Thursday, General Motors said it will be eliminating a shift at its transmission plant in Warren, Michigan. While GM hasn’t said how many will be affected, CNNMoney reported it could impact approximately 300 positions.

According to a GM statement, “Recent actions to reduce passenger car production have caused us to adjust transmission production.”

The cuts will go into effect by the end of the month and is the fifth shift cut from the auto maker at U.S. facilities since November of last year. About 5,000 jobs in Ohio and Michigan have already been eliminated.

GM plans to rehire about 700 workers next year when the company hopes to increase production.
